All I could do was lock from the inside the 3 other doors and manually lock the driver door. Now test by getting a screw driver and push it into the latch as if you were closing the door. Now that the door light is off, the explorer beeps once when i lock it using the key fob but it doesn't actually lock. I'm guessing that the problem is the solder points or micro-switch on the door module but I can't get to it. The above is a link with part numbers at the bottom, ignore the ebay one for a replacement switch. I am unable to move the lock button next to door handle in the inside of the door on the rear drivers side door.
I had this recently and have collected a lot of good info and fixes. Well, the alarm doesn't arm anymore. Last night it probably took an hour and a half but I had to leave the job half way through for something else and then I had got the door skin back on when I noticed the white plastic cover lying on the floor so had to take it all off again. Fix the wires re solder or replace the loom. My wife's V6 4motion has suddenly started triggering the alarm and I'm pretty convinced it's the passenger side door lock module playing up. The lights would no longer flash when locked.
Next up is to remove the handle completely. So I tried to start the car at 7:20 for my usual drive to work and tried the usual approach. Drivers door is ok from fob and from door console button. After getting the door all back together I pulled the door open and the door handle popped out slightly at both ends. All other doors lock and unlock except drivers door. I went home, took the door trim off, and then removed the switch in order to clean it.
I have to use the key. We had a situation yesterday where the screen door inexplicably locked behind Andy when he went out to water the plants. As with these modules its not a matter of if they go wrong. Failure to do so will result in your account being locked out! When I gave up and went to lock the car for the day and I attempted to use the remote that the car would not lock all the doors, just the drivers door. However, yesterday it finally gave out as I was at the gas station. I just don't have the time to take it apart and have a look at it again. Again if you get nothing then the switch is dead however if its works then move on to the next.
About 4 months ago I was at the gas station and when I tried opening my fuel door, the switch wasn't working. The post appeared to be useful and included some good pictures for a stripdown of door's insides. Periodically check the lock cylinder to see if its loose enough to pull out — the door handle will have to be pulled out to do this. When I use the lock switch in the rear by the spare wheel tools it will lock and unlock. I would think if you buy it from the stealers you could return it if it doesn't work. Daunting as this seems I found this much easier than taking the inner door skin off.
Need to buy parts for this project? Picture above shows the retaining tab between the two bolt holes. So your door is stuck, what now? If it does then put the lead onto the middle leg and press the switch small button on top this should make a sound. I think I could do it now in about an hour. I notice this when I run the remote start cycle twice more than anything. Pull the rubber bung out of its hole and feed the cable out with the unit and unplug the electrical plug. Will use this guide when it eventually gets worse! There is a light blinking on my dash according to the manual the accessory mode light is blinking.
You will have exposed a small T20 screw where the front end of the handle used to be. I drove the car on Sunday for several journies with no problems. I might also try to take apart the drivers door and check the lock here for dry joints, if there were, could this cause the rear drivers side to fail also? I'm really concerned because I can't even lock it manually by pressing the lock in. But the key cannot unlock the passenger door. The other 3 doors lock and unlock just fine. I think that when the pin is in the door card, obviously it can not move left and right so does not move at all, however as soon as I take the door card off, it works properly as it is able to move about freely. In fact it locked the drivers door shut and couldn't open it lol.
I would like to thank you for your help and especially with the guide you made, it was extremely helpful and I probably would not have managed without it. So I think that the cable must be stretched However its working for now so i'm just going to leave it until i get some time to get a new cable and do the job properly. I don't want to go and buy one for it to be useless so wanted to see what you guys thought. So this evening I have tried again. Close the catch again and lock the door and if it locks correctly pull on the handle then the locking micro switch is fine.
This movement flicks a lever on the out side that moves the locking lever in the mechanical set up. £75 new from the stealers. If all this works test it several times, have a beverage of your choice then test some more. Hope this helps Sometimes when the battery gets low in the key it can lose its locking and unlocking function, when adapting a new key, you have to carry out two tests one for the coding to the imob and one for the key functions unlcok and lock. I do have an Accent 2002 automatic 1,6 L.
