I then called warranty people to discover that my ring is covered under my power-train warranty after having been told by the dealership the ring couldn't be fixed. Box was opened, fluid soaked box, unit appeared slightly used. When my mileage hit 11,000 I started having a lot of transmission leakage. In December of 2004, the solenoid malfunctioned. On top of low prices, Advance Auto Parts offers 3 different trusted brands of Transmission Solenoid products for the 2004 Dodge Neon. I drove in between lanes to avoid hitting others! When the consumer applied the brakes, the vehicle would stall and or jump and have almost run into other vehicle's.
Semi-off topic: if they the manufactures of the transmission, and subsequently the dealerships that sell the vehicle knew this was an issue apparent from the introduction of the metal plates for the bolt why was it not announced and corrected while under warranty for those that have bought the vehicle in 2002?. To properly service this part, it is necessary to clear related fault codes from the control module. While researching this on the internet I have found this has happened over 25 other times the same way with out warning! If I had been driving down the highway, and this had happened, the car would have stopped in the middle of the highway and been the cause of a serious accident that, thankfully, was avoided in this instance. The dealer recently determined the problem can not be duplicated and no additional repairs were made. I am puzzled because I am use to the transmission being a separate assembly on vehicles, but am not certain on this car. In June 2006, the problem recurred causing me to have an accident.
The dealer said radiator failed causing trans fluid and coolant to mix through out. I was told my mechanic that it is the weight distribution and poor design of my vehicle that this happens. At this time I am still having troouble with the shifting. The contact hoped that this will solve the leak problem. By far the transmission is the most unacceptable component failure. I had just bought out my lease that very week. I then noticed that the fluid was draining out of the engine coolant overflow tube.
I then noticed that the fluid was draining out of the engine coolant overflow tube. Now here I am two and a half years later and 39,000 miles and I am leaking again. Albany Dodge tried to tell me I didn't have a 7yr 70k warranty only after the production of all my original paper work they agreed to fix trans. I started it back up, and still could not get the car to move. Started right back up but wouldn't go into gear, the transmission had locked up! The mechanic chased after the moving vehicle and was eventually able to open the front driver side door and enter the vehicle. When I got out and opened the hood I saw all the transmission fluid on the ground had it towed to dealership.
I put it in drive and the same thing nothing. On March 5, 2005, I took the car back to the dealer for repairs for this same problem. The brakes were immediately engaged to stop the vehicle. I looked for a ruptured hose but found none. I put it in drive and the same thing nothing.
Found out, after car was towed to an auto shop, that a pinion bolt inside the transmission 2002 model had broken off and was the cause to the seizure of the vehicle. Dodge fixed the problem with reverse; currently vehicle continues to lunge violently forward after stopping, forcing me to put in park at lights, intersections; etc. She was pinned under the car for about 15 minutes before a family member found her and moved the car off her. I came out to leave started it and I had no reverse. Albany Dodge tried to tell me I didn't have a 7yr 70K warranty only after the production of all my original paper work they agreed to fix trans. Within two months my cars value depreciated over half what I paid. I finally put the car in neutral didn't stop then park and turned it off in the middle of the street! While having brake problems, check engine light came on and car started to chug and jerk frequently.
They suspect I need yet another transmission. When my mileage hit 11,000 I started having a lot of transmission leakage. Submitted 2016-07-09 By tntbenson From cullman, alabama this was great part at a great price. The car had 81,000 miles at the time of failure and is barely six years old! The car is no longer under warenty. Then it all poured on the ground.
Placed the car into neutral, and the car still would not move when I tried to push it. Cheap rubber gasket kept falling off. The vehicle travelled approximately eight miles onto the highway at a slow speed. I am puzzled because I am use to the transmission being a separate assembly on vehicles, but am not certain on this car. She has multiple abrasions, some stitches, and is undergoing testing for internal injuries. This time there was a malfunction with my timing chain causing the car to accelerate on its own! It shifs hard and at times seems to miss 2nd gear.
It takes several attempts to lock. Cheap rubber gasket kept falling off. Why am I having a problem? I risk injuring myself and anyone in the path of that car!. At 12,000 miles I had a new solenoid put on, still leaked. Two transmissions under 40,000 miles there is definitely something up here.
